OpenSSL is a free implementation of the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and TLS (Transport Layer Security) cryptographic library of RSA (Rivest-Shamir-Adleman),DSA and DH public key algorithms. OpenSSL can provide you with the security to accept credit card and other sensitive information from customers. OpenSSL also supports message digest algorithms MD5, SHA1 and RIPE-MD160. Plus symmetric ciphers - 3DES, RC4, IDEA and AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). It uses X.509 certificate. The PKCS (Public Key Cryptography Standards) and, for email, S/MIME v2. Written in C, OpenSSl uses a command line interface and works on both Unix and WindowsThe RSA encryption and authentication system used by it was developed using an algorithm developed in 1977 by Ron Rivest, Adi Shamir and Leonard Adleman. It is the most commonly used and a part of both Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers. You can use OpenSSL to secure other people's applications. Next: Palm OS |
