Jython is the software programming language Python on a Java development platform. Jim Hugunin implemented Jython to combine the advantages of the those two languages.

Jython can be embedded in a Java program and Java can be used to extend it. It is efficient but not as fast as Java.

It can interpret any class, algorithm and pattern in both Java and Python

It uses dynamic data types without explicit declarations. It can run interactively -- interpreted or compiled.

Thanks to the Java Reflection API, Jython offers seamless access to Java classes. It runs on any JVM - Java Virtual Machine. You can use Swing and the Abstract Windowing Toolkit (AWT) to design GUIs - Graphic User Interfaces.
