SAP certifications background:

SAP certifications come from Learning Tree, a prominent training company. They produce a lot of IT training classes and related certifications. They require you to take their expensive classes to obtain their certs. SAP certifications are valuable, and hard to get for Americans.

SAP certifications worth it?

Standard disclaimer:

Whether or not any certification is "worth it" is an individual decision. You alone must decide what your career goals and needs are.

Look at certifications from a cost/benefit or Return On Investment (ROI) basis. If they help you get a better paying job or make more money at your current job, they are obviously "worth it."

The problem is, there is no real way of measuring how much you can expect your income to go up as a result of any given certification. It also depends on non-related job search skills such as how well you network.

Bottom Line:

If you want to advance in SAP on your computer job, you want certifications. If you do not already have extensive experience with the module you want to be certified in, you will have to take classes, and if you have to ask how much they cost . . . you better convince your employer to pay for them.

SAP Certified R/3 Consultant.
