Corel Certifications for Not Yet Techies

"Computer Careers: High Tech Jobs with Corel Software Products"

Corel Certifications Background:

Corel is well known for high quality office productivity software. Corel certifications validate your expertise in their software. They own WordPerfect and compete against Microsoft Office with their WordPerfect Suite: WordPerfect, Quattro Pro and Presentations. Their Draw and Photo-Paint compete with Adobe's graphic programs. Corel certifications advance your computer career if you use or anticipate using their software.

Corel certifications worth it?

Standard disclaimer:

Whether or not any certification is "worth it" is an individual decision. You alone must decide what your career goals and needs are.

Look at certifications from a cost/benefit or Return On Investment (ROI) basis. If they help you get a better paying job or make more money at your current job, they are obviously "worth it."

The problem is, there is no real way of measuring how much you can expect your income to go up as a result of any given certification. It also depends on non-related job search skills such as how well you network.

Bottom Line:

Corel offers two Corel certifications levels:

  • Corel Certified Proficient User
  • Corel Certified Expert User

Each of these two levels applies for each applicable Corel software product.

Certified Proficient Users have demonstrated a good fundamental knowledge of that software product. You can obtain this Corel certifications for the following products:

  • CorelDRAW®
  • Corel PHOTO-PAINT®
  • Corel® WordPerfect®
  • Quattro® Pro
  • Corel® Presentations™

Certified Expert Users, of course, are experts at that software program. You can obtain Expert User certification for the following products:

  • CorelDRAW®
  • Corel PHOTO-PAINT®
  • Corel® WordPerfect®

Tests consists of 40-60 questions and should cost $50.

They plan to come out with Corel certifications on Venture and Linux OS.
