Adobe Certifications for Not Yet Techies

"Computer Careers: For Adobe Software Products and High Tech Jobs"

Adobe certifications Background:

Adobe certifications come from the company well known for its high quality publishing-related software. Adobe Photoshop is THE standard web graphic software. Adobe Portable File Document is THE standard of web publishing. Adobe certifications validate your skills in those and other software programs.

Type of Adobe certifications for computer careers:

Vendor

Adobe certifications worth it?

Standard disclaimer:

Whether or not any certification is "worth it" is an individual decision. You alone must decide what your career goals and needs are.

Look at certifications from a cost/benefit or Return On Investment (ROI) basis. If they help you get a better paying job or make more money at your current job, they are obviously "worth it."

The problem is, there is no real way of measuring how much you can expect your income to go up as a result of any given certification. It also depends on non-related job search skills such as how well you network.

Bottom Line:

"The Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) program is for Web and graphic designers, systems integrators, value-added resellers, developers, and business professionals seeking official recognition of their expertise on Adobe products."

You earn the Adobe Certified Expert title by passing an exam on a particular Adobe product, one of Adobe certifications. This is potentially valuable for anyone seeking work in web and offline graphics, web publishing. Adobe software is priced to reflect its quality, which means it's expensive, and the learning curve for Photoshop is steep. Employers are glad to find people who they can be sure are already expert with the program.

Illustrator

This is Adobe certifications illustration and drawing program.

Acrobat

This converts documents to the cross-platform Portable Document Format (PDF), which is fast becoming the electronic standard. I published Secrets of Changing to a High Pay Computer Career with PDF because it is the best. Adobe certifications help you with PDF.

FrameMaker

This is a document authoring and publishing package. It helps you create long and structured documents on all major computing platforms.

Photoshop

This is the standard for creating and web graphics.

PageMaker

This is Adobe's desktop publishing software, so Adobe certifications help with jobs with this program.

After Effects

For creating motion and visual effects. Perfect for those of you who want to create dramatic special effects for Hollywood or TV.

Premiere

This is software for editing video files. Great if you wish to get a job at a TV station or studio, so then consider Adobe certifications for that.

FrameMaker+SGML

This is FrameMaker with SGML added. SGML is a standard method for marking up documents and is the forerunner of both HTML and XML. If you don't know what it is you don't need to know it unless you want to go into the publishing industry.

InDesign

This is software for professional publishing.

GoLive

This is Adobe's web software. I saw an Adobe representative demonstrate the latest version a few months ago and it's very snazzy. Makes Flash look dull. If you want to create a web site with the latest and greatest tech bells and whistles and special effects, get GoLive.

So Adobe certifications help with lots of high quality software.
