Whether or not any certification is "worth it" is an individual decision. You alone must decide what your career goals and needs are.

Look at certifications from a cost/benefit or Return On Investment (ROI) basis. If they help you get a better paying job or make more money at your current job, they are obviously "worth it."

You must have at least five years work experience and current employment in "the use and management of electronic document systems or related services." You must pay a fee and then you must submit three work examples which demonstrate expertise in three of the Bodies of Knowledge.

A board then reviews your work samples and either approves or disapproves your certification. You can appeal if they deny you the EDP certification / Electronic Document Professional.

Therefore the EDP certification / Electronic Document Professional is anything but an entry-level certification where you can go to a computer school, pay $7000, take courses until you're ready to pass multiple choice tests and then get your certificate.

The EDP certification / Electronic Document Professional is a highly regarded credential within that profession. It's recognition that you are an accomplished professional and the basis for further professional promotion and pay raises.
