Dell certifications from:

Dell certifications test and validate your skill, knowledge and experience working with Dell Computer products. Obviously they are best known for their PCs, but also offer server management software. Dell certifications can advance your computer careers if you work or hope to work with Dell products.

Whether or not any certification is "worth it" is an individual decision. You alone must decide what your career goals and needs are.

Look at certifications from a cost/benefit or Return On Investment (ROI) basis. If they help you get a better paying job or make more money at your current job, they are obviously "worth it."

The problem is, there is no real way of measuring how much you can expect your income to go up as a result of any given certification. It also depends on non-related job search skills such as how well you network.

Background:

Dell certifications are all called the Dell Certified Enterprise Engineer (DCEE) - and come in three levels - four, if you count the instructor certification.

All levels of Dell certifications come in 4 tracks:

PowerEdge Server (except, no Master level)
Systems Management
Business Continuity
Network Storage

There are courses and exams to pass for each level of each track.

The first Dell certifications level is: Foundation

This is for people at the basic skill level who wish to demonstrate basic knowledge of Dell hardware and/or server management software.

The second certifications level is: Associate

This is for individuals with intermediate skills who wish to demonstrate mid-level knowledge of Dell products.

The third Dell certifications level is: Master

This is for people at advanced skill level who wish to demonstrate expert knowledge of Dell hardware and/or server management software.

The final Dell certifications level is: Master Instructor

For individuals who wish to deliver master level DCEE courses. You must earn the Dell certifications on the track you wish to teach.
