Adobe Photoshop for Not Yet Techies"Computer Careers: Designing Web Sites Require Expertise with This High Level Graphics Software"by Richard Stooker, President Info Ring Press and author of Secrets of Changing to a Computer Career |
|
Adobe Photoshop is the most popular software application for creating and editing images. Adobe Photoshop is by far the standard program for web designing. If you want a computer career designing web sites, from the artistic point of view (rather than from the development point of view), you must know how to use Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop performs two functions: painting (creating images) and image editing (changing images to suit your purpose)Adobe Photoshop is not an easy program. In fact it's well known to be not only expensive, but difficult to learn. It requires months of experience before you really know and can work with all its potential. You must master Adobe Photoshop's layers model of working with and creating images. You must know about the range of colors, how to combine them and change depth of color and resolution of images at various image sizes. Plus the various forms of image files such as the differences between .gif and .jpg files and the advantages of each and when you want an image to be a .gif file and when you want a .jpg file. Not to mention the differences between how Windows and Mac browsers display colors and the resulting "web safe" color palette and many other issues that you don't think about when you see a pretty picture on a web site.
