Sound Forge for Not Yet Techies"Computer Careers: Working With This Software for Editing Audio Files"by Richard Stooker, President Info Ring Press and author of Secrets of Changing to a Computer Career |
|
Sound Forge is software for editing audio files. You can use it to edit or create loops for another sound software program from the same company, Sonic Foundry -- ACID. With Sound Forge you can edit, process and master music files. You can use Sound Forge on both MIDI files and digital audio, of which Microsoft's WAV is the most common format in WindowsMIDI files are not as accurate because they record sound by the instrument and how it's played - they don't record the actual sound. Depending on how well it captures the quality of the sound and depending on the quality of the software, sound card and speakers of the computer replaying the file, the result can sound a lot different than the original. Audio files record the actual sound, which does make them much larger than MIDI files. With Sound Forge, when you're done, you can burn the music to a CD-ROM. Next: Visio |
