Rational Rose for Not Yet Techies"Computer Careers: Working With This UML / Unified Modeling Language Tool"by Richard Stooker, President Info Ring Press and author of Secrets of Changing to a Computer Career |
|
Rational Rose is a Unified Modeling Language / UML tool for designing enterprise-level software. It is object-oriented and can generate code in C++, Visual Basic, Java, Oracle8, CORBA and Data Definition Language. Rational Rose provides a visual modeling tool using various shapes to create a framework of all the necessary components. Rational Rose can provide iterative (or evolutionary) development and round-trip engineeringThese work in combination. The developer begins to map out the program but after taking several steps, learn that some areas need improvement. You make the changes and then the program itself goes back and changes the beginning design and code. It is extensible, with add-ins and third party applications available to improve Rational Rose. Version 1.0 came out in 1992 from Rational Software. With Rational Rose you have object-oriented analysis, modeling, design and construction tools. It has a lot of support for Java. It "provides UML based Java™ and J2EE modeling and development capabilities, and provides auto synchronization with leading Java™ IDEs. Rose helps you analyze, design and implement Java™ and J2EE software and offers a simple to use interface for developing EJBs, servlets and plain Java™ classes." These are the Rational Rose basics.
