Data Access Objects / DAO for Not Yet Techies"Computer Careers: Using This Microsoft Technology to Write Programs That Access Databases"by Richard Stooker, President Info Ring Press and author of Secrets of Changing to a Computer Career |
|
Data Access Objects / DAO is an API that comes with Microsoft® Access and Microsoft Visual Basic®. It gives your program access to a database's structure and to its data. Data Access Objects / DAO was Microsoft's first object oriented database interface. Data Access Objects / DAO is a feature of the Jet engine that's common to both Microsoft Access and Visual BasicThe objects encapsulate Jet functions, and using them, can access other databases using SQL. There is also a Data Access Objects / DAO class in Java. There, it is based on the separation of design tasks, separating business logic from database persistence code. They are responsible for operating on objects that hold data stored in a relational database. These objects are usually called value objects. These are the Data Access Objects / DAO basics. |
