CTPP / Certified Tester Professional Program worth it?

Standard disclaimer:

Whether or not any certification is "worth it" is an individual decision. You alone must decide what your career goals and needs are.

Look at certifications from a cost/benefit or Return On Investment (ROI) basis. If they help you get a better paying job or make more money at your current job, they are obviously "worth it."

The problem is, there is no real way of measuring how much you can expect your income to go up as a result of any given certification. It also depends on non-related job search skills such as how well you network.

CTPP / Certified Tester Professional Program consists of new credentials from SofTest. The CTPP / Certified Tester Professional Program is for people professionally involved with inspection, testing, verification and validation of software.

CTPP / Certified Tester Professional Program currently has two certifications:

  1. Certified Software Tester / CST
  2. Certified Software Test Analyst / CSTA

The first one is an entry-level certification for people interested in the software testing field. You must take the five day Certified Software Tester class, then pass the exam with 80% or better.

The second one is an intermediate level credential for people with experience in the field who have already passed the Certified Software Tester / CST and wish to demonstrate further knowledge and skills. Again, you must take a class lasting five days and pass the exam.

The CTPP / Certified Tester Professional Program is obviously one that could benefit everyone in the field or looking to get into it.
