Siebel certifications worth it?

Standard disclaimer:

Whether or not any certification is "worth it" is an individual decision. You alone must decide what your career goals and needs are.

Look at certifications from a cost/benefit or Return On Investment (ROI) basis. If they help you get a better paying job or make more money at your current job, they are obviously "worth it."

The problem is, there is no real way of measuring how much you can expect your income to go up as a result of any given certification. It also depends on non-related job search skills such as how well you network.

Siebel certifications background:

Siebel Systems provides organizations with a proven set of industry-specific best practices, CRM (customer relations management) applications and business processes. They are located in more than 28 countries. Siebel certifications in the Siebel Certified Professional Program are available to any partner, employee or customer who has satisfied the applicable training requirements.

(Given the common experience of businesses being rude to us their customers, I know it may seem strange to some of you to learn that CRM is a huge trend in modern businesses. Just how much customer relations management actually helps businesses meet the needs of customers -- as perceived by actual customers -- and instead helps them to "manage" customer relationships -- as though customers want to be *managed* instead of served -- is an interesting and debatable question. I'm sure much CRM software is good to a large degree but is only good as the ability of upper management to teach all employees to see things from the viewpoint of customers.)

The Siebel Certified Professional Program offers two Siebel certifications tracks: A technical track and an analyst track. Each track offers both core certifications and specialty certifications.

All Siebel certifications are version-specific to major Siebel eBusiness Applications releases. In addition to completing the required training, individuals must pass a computer-based exam that is specific to the level of certification sought.

The Siebel certifications Technical track:

Siebel Certified Consultant (SCC)

You must complete a three week Siebel Core Consultant Course and pass a computer-based exam that assesses knowledge of Siebel products and implementation practices.

Siebel Customer Certified Consultant

Siebel Customer Certified Consultant is a Certified Consultant who has received a strong written performance endorsement from a customer.

Siebel Certified Instructor

A Siebel Certified Instructor has completed a thorough course of technical training and has met the requirements for the Siebel Certified Consultant certification. He or she must also attend a Train the Trainer Workshop in infrastructure and methodology for presenting the Siebel training and pass an audit of subject knowledge and teaching proficiency.

The Siebel certifications Analyst track:

Siebel Certified Business Analyst

This course is a one-week course designed to enable Business Analysts to successfully map business requirements onto Siebel application functionality. You must pass the Business Analyst Exam

Siebel Customer Certified Business Analyst

Siebel Customer Certified Business Analyst is a Certified Business Analyst who has received a strong written performance endorsement from at least one customer.

These are the Siebel certifications basics.
