Avaya certifications worth it?

Standard disclaimer:

Whether or not any certification is "worth it" is an individual decision. You alone must decide what your career goals and needs are.

Look at certifications from a cost/benefit or Return On Investment (ROI) basis. If they help you get a better paying job or make more money at your current job, they are obviously "worth it."

The problem is, there is no real way of measuring how much you can expect your income to go up as a result of any given certification. It also depends on non-related job search skills such as how well you network.

Avaya is a leader in the coming convergence of voice and data networking. Avaya certifications are some of the best to focus on both voice and data technologies at every level.

The Avaya certifications are:

1. Avaya Certified Associate - Communication Networking (ACACN)

For entry- to mid-level engineers and associates in the IT or communications industries. The exam focuses on voice networking, data networking, converged networking, basic applications and connectivity.

They want you to have 3 years experience in voice, data or convergence technology or equivalent education and must pass the Associate Communication Networking Exam.

2. Avaya Certified Expert

This comes in both design and communication areas.

3. Avaya Certified Specialist - Communication Design

For those who design voice and data solutions and have at least three to five years of job experience in voice, data, and convergence technology or equivalent education. Must also already hold a current Avaya Certified Associate Communication Networking certification.

You must pass the Avaya Specialist Communication Design core exam, plus one of the following elective exams: Messaging Platforms and Applications Elective Exam, Contact Center/CRM Elective Exam, IP Telephony Principles and Applications.

4. Avaya Certified Specialist - Communication Implementation
